HELP - James not receiving email...

I'm hoping you might be able to provide some assistance. I have installed
James 2.3.1 on Linux Fedora and I've gotten it to work at sending emails,
and it can receive emails sent from localhost, but when I try sending an
email to the server from outside the server itself -- like from my main
email or gmail account, it doesn't get delivered.

What are some things I could check to ensure that it can receive email?

Thanks -- any help much appreciated.

Kim :-)

nothing gets logged to the log file when I attempt to send mail to the
server.
I also am not receiving bouncebacks from the send so far...

This log is ok.
Does it logs anything *when* you send the email to it?

"tail -f *.log" will help you monitoring the log folder

How did you configured it? How did you configured your domain MX ? What
errors are logged by JAMES when you try to send an email to it?

This is wrong. You have to use an hostname and not an IP as MX pointers.

SO add a
mail.my-domain.com.	3600	IN	A	66.173.98.22
and then add a
mu-domain.com. 3600	IN	MX	10 mail.my-domain.com.

# dig @dns.heagmobilo.de yourdomain MX

Here are the results from the check of the MX -- it appears to be correct
(see below).
How do I connect to port 25 on this server from outside? Is there an easy
way to do this? we disable telnet on all servers because it is not
secure...

[root@gumby /]# dig @dns.heagmobilo.de einsof-email.com MX

Well first of all are you sure your MX-record is correct ?
check if you got the right entry for your domain like:

# dig @dns.heagmobilo.de yourdomain MX

If this is all correct try to connect to port 25 from outside your
network. Maybe the port is blocked...

It whould help if you can provide us the "bounce" you got when trieng to
send from gmail...

bye
Norman
