Combined sync/async operation

Hallo again, Is it possible to combine blocking and non-blocking 
communication mode in proton? Namely, connection and message send 
operations should always be blocking. Message receiving should be 
performed both from select-based event loop and in blocking mode. The 
latter is used only to read the reply messages, when reply-to property 
is set in outgoing message. Thanks, --
