HexWorkshop

Hi, this is a little wierd. When I edit a file in Hex Workshop and save it,
subversion doesn't see the file as having been modified. However, if I open
the file up in textpad and save it, it shows up as changed. Anybody know
how to address this issue?

Regards,
Ahmed

This has got to be a Hex Workshop fix. Nobody would want Subversion to
do byte-by-byte compares on every file every time status is requested.

I'd guess that there is an option in Hex Workshop to update the file mod time. If not, contact the maker of that program. Or, you could consider another hex editor. I, for example, use 010 Editor (http://www.sweetscape.com/010editor/). I find it's binary templates simply amazing for analyzing binary files. I convinced my work to get a site license.

Thanks! That's precisely the problem. Hex workshop doesn't change the last modified time... hence the issue. I can "touch" the files later, but would really rather find a way to enable something in hex workshop or subversion that allows this to happen. Does Hex Workshop leave the "last modified" date unchanged? If so, you
might need to "touch" the file so that Subversion knows to do a
byte-by-byte comparison.

Thanks! That's precisely the problem. Hex workshop doesn't change the last
modified time... hence the issue. I can "touch" the files later, but would
really rather find a way to enable something in hex workshop or subversion
that allows this to happen. I'm really hoping there's someone out there
who's encountered and tackled this issue. I mean, the "touching" option is
perfectly fine, except... it's not a very neat way of doing business, what
if you forget to touch the file? etc etc. Cuz, then you have a changed
binary file that isn't showing up as modified!
