[jira] [Commented] (RANGER-222) Multiple repository creation for single cluster from RANGER-ADMIN UI.

Madhan Neethiraj commented on RANGER-222:
-----------------------------------------

[~shreymehrotra] Ranger requires the repository name to be unique. If you can use the same name when creating repositories, you can be sure to not have duplicates.

BTW, Ranger repository configurations - like Namenode-URL, HiveServer2 URL, are used only for resource-lookup to help entering resource values in policies. Ranger does not mandate these configuration values to be valid - when not valid, the users will not "auto-fill" while entering resource values in policies.

> RANGER-ADMIN UI allow creation of multiple repository of one type(HDFS, Hive) for same cluster. Since agents pull only from one repository, we could prevent Admin from creating multiple repositories for same cluster.
