This problem was originally reported by Eric Anderson in another issue (THRIFT-71), but his patch included fixed other issues at the same time. TestServer startup takes so much time that TestClient cannot connect to it.

I've got a fix for this along with the patches for THRIFT-212. Unfortunately, I've had to disable gitweb due to some security vulnerabilities, so the link is broken. The github mirror is at http://github.com/dreiss/thrift/commit/d3025fdd87ae6db37789613e35feb29e0d5c622f
