I would prefer separate repository modules.  I anticipate major changes
on both branches once 2.0 development begins.  Working on branches
will only lead to huge version files, unreadable cvs logs, and
periodic branch goofups that will eventually screw up the entire
repository and leave us with no version history at all.

It would also allow us to separate access control on the two versions,
if that becomes desirable.  A lot of new people will join in on the
development of 2.0 and it would be nice if they could work directly
on the system and not have to go through one of the core developers.
