[jira] [Commented] (LEGAL-550) ASF project use of dependencies released with the commons clause license condition

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LEGAL-550?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17260533#comment-17260533 ]

Mark Thomas commented on LEGAL-550:
-----------------------------------

No, ASF projects may not use dependencies that include this clause in the license

All such licenses are category X.

That is single clause, not a full license so is different to anything else listed. I can see the argument for listing it under category X but I'd like to hear the views of other folks on the legal committee first.

> From their definition they are not open source, so I was wondering if we should add it to the Category X.
