[jira] [Created] (INFRA-4439) Migrate any23.org & sparql.org to ASF
Infrastructure
Migrate any23.org & sparql.org to ASF Infrastructure
----------------------------------------------------
Key: INFRA-4439
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-4439
Project: Infrastructure
Issue Type: Wish
Security Level: public (Regular issues)
Reporter: Lewis John McGibbney
Currently we have two live service demos running which display use and functionality of Apache Incubating projects; Apache Any23 & Apache Jena; namely any23.org and sparql.org respectively.
It would be great if we were able to migrate these demos to ASF infrastructure where they now belong, apart from anything else it would give us the ability to update the now dated interface for any23.org which still references old code which was hosted @ googlecode.
I'm sure there is much more information the Infra team could benefit from having so please press both the Jena and Any23 projects for this information. Additionally, if this issue should be split into two separate issues then I will do so as I understand they may also have slightly different risks associates and we do not want a situation where one is holding up the other. I've provided some details specific to both requests below.
Thank you in advance.
USER TRAFFIC
--------------------
APACHE ANY23
A full report of the any23.org traffic is attached to ANY23-46. This report details all specifics far better than I could describe them here.
APACHE JENA
sparql.org is around 50 hits per hour (today).
Quite a lot of syntax errors, which are cheap to process. Failure to count brackets, failure to put <> around URIs, that sort of stuff.
The demo server also implements query timeout - set to a few 10s of seconds currently - and a limit on the amount of data it wil read from a remote location.

---------------------------------------------
Small update on this parent issue
To install the webservice I believe you have to get the code from the any23 SVN area [1], compile and package the project using maven,
and then in trunk/service/target you will find the war file which has to be placed on tomcat
If you rename the generated war file to any23
Then verify by accessing
http://{some-tomcat-location}/any23/turtle/richard.cyganiak.de
In the previous case (@any23.org) it was available in tomcat behind apache httpd.
In such a case we were aware that you have to be sure that httpd will proxy everything to
the right tomcat location
Below will go to apache site definition
ProxyPass /XXX/any23 http://{some-tomcat-location}/any23
ProxyPassReverse /XXX/any23 http://{some-tomcat-location}/any23
We are working on the rest as you've mentioned above.
