GATE UIMA integration Problem.

Hi -

I am Integrating GATE in UIMA by using example GATEApplicationAnnotator
provided in GATE API.
But I am getting some error on Importing

*

import* gate.*;
*

import* gate.util.*;
*

import* gate.util.persistence.*;
*

import* gate.persist.PersistenceException;
*

import* gate.creole.*;

these classes.

which Jar files I need to import to resolve these errors.

and also I am adding some GATE jars then my UIMA SDk is not working... :(

Please suggest.

Thanks

This is a GATE problem. To run gate programmatically you need to set
some System properties. You can do it programmatically:
String dataPath= "./";
System.setProperty("gate.config", dataPath + "/gate.xml");
		System.setProperty("gate.plugins.home", dataPath);
		System.setProperty("gate.home", dataPath);
then you can call:

Gate.setSiteConfigFile(System.getProperty("gate.config"));
Gate.init();

I think it's possible to pass this variables directly from commanda
line. Ask to GATE's folks, or even better read GATE's documentation!

 Roberto

Take a look at section 1.4 in the UIMA Overview and Setup Guide ... it describes
 how to migrate an application from the old IBM UIMA to the new Apache UIMA. I
have used it a couple of times and found the migration script does much of the
necessary work.

Seems to me you're trying to use an old, com.ibm.* version of UIMA
with a new, org.apache.* version. That will simply not work. I'm
not sure there is an up-to-date version of the GATE/UIMA compat
package. Have you asked the GATE folks? They developed it, I
believe.

Simply changing the package declarations will not get you anywhere,
I'm afraid.

Hi Burn,

Actually this GATEApplicationAnnotator.java is in com.ibm.uima API.
so I change almost aal claases to corresponding org.apache.uima APIs.

now I am getting some errors like..

The type com.ibm.uima.cas.TypeSystem cannot be resolved. It is indirectly
referenced from

required .class files
at this line..

ObjectBuilder inputBuilder = ObjectManager.*createBuilder*(mapping,
typeSystem);

The method createBuilder(Element, TypeSystem) in the type ObjectManager is
not applicable for

the arguments (Element, TypeSystem) at this line....
*

createBuilder*(mapping, typeSystem);
and some more..

even I have import

*

import* org.apache.uima.cas.TypeSystem;

not   com.ibm.uima.cas.TypeSystem

Please suggest ????

Did you post the error messages? I don't know if they're hidden somewhere
but I don't see anything in your post that indicates what the errors are.
