[jira] [Created] (AIRAVATA-3220) While cloning copying of input data could be avoided

Sudhakar Pamidighantam created AIRAVATA-3220:
------------------------------------------------

Summary: While cloning copying of input data could be avoided
                 Key: AIRAVATA-3220
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AIRAVATA-3220
             Project: Airavata
          Issue Type: New Feature
            Reporter: Sudhakar Pamidighantam

In the PGA we noticed that the cloning with a large input file of 4.4GB is throwing a error “Failed to clone experiment: TSocket read 0 bytes”. Perhaps this was caused by some timeout due to the time copying the input for the cloned job took. If we can avoid copying this may get resolved since the data is already available and only a pointer to it is needed.

One issue this may affect is when users delete jobs. We may have to warn that if an original experiment with data is deleted, all the dependent/cloned experiments may be affected before the experiment is deleted.
