[vote] fix for etch-69 in release 1.1

currently release 1.1 is pretty much in the can. but since there is a 
fix for
this path problem for maven users that rick bolkey found so long ago,
what do you say for putting it in 1.1?

it doesn't break anything, and brian smith did check out the code and
built his own version with the fix and it solved the problem.

i've put a 1.0.2 special up (location noted in the comments of the issue)
if anyone else is setup to try it. mainly i think that might be rick.

+1 (include fix for etch-69 in release 1.1)
