[jira] [Created] (CLOUDSTACK-6094) Insufficient Error information when adding template with broken vhd file

Gerd Katzenbeisser created CLOUDSTACK-6094:
----------------------------------------------

Summary: Insufficient Error information when adding template with broken vhd file
                 Key: CLOUDSTACK-6094
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CLOUDSTACK-6094
             Project: CloudStack
          Issue Type: Bug
Security Level: Public (Anyone can view this level - this is the default.)
    Affects Versions: 4.2.1
            Reporter: Gerd Katzenbeisser

I resized a VHD capacity using Microsofts diskutil instead of vhd-util. The resulting vhd file looks invalid to vhd-uti:

RoboRex1.vhd appears invalid; dumping metadata
...
failed to get batmap header

However - when trying to add a template with such a file the upload completes but the template does not install and is not usable. After restarting the secondary storage VM the download starts again.

After upload the result of vhd-util check should be reported as error if the check fails.
