Navigation templates per user?

Hello All --

I need to support different portal appearances per user -- that is, I'm using velocity and I want to have a different top.vm, left.vm & bottom.vm for each user. I've tried to look in the archives to see if anyone has asked this question before but haven't found any references to this issue. Is it possible to support individual templates for the navigation bars?
Can someone give me a pointer or two about how to go about it?

Or maybe there's another way to achieve the same thing? Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks in advance,
John King

John,
Another method is to NOT use the navigation bars, but use portlet sets
instead. At this point I do not know the specifics, but if you create a
Top_Nav, Left_Nav, and Bottom_Nav portlet and place them on each PSML.
The portlet can get the username from rundata and then generate the
appropriate content.
