[jira] [Created] (NIFI-10420) Source processors should not delete source file by default

Martin created NIFI-10420:
-----------------------------

Summary: Source processors should not delete source file by default
                 Key: NIFI-10420
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NIFI-10420
             Project: Apache NiFi
          Issue Type: Wish
            Reporter: Martin

The default behaviour of source processors that are retrieving files (GetFile, GetSMB, GetFTP, GetSFTP) is to delete the original file. This can lead to unwanted consequences if a data flow manager is debugging or creating new flows and using the default value. Some cases:
 * If the DFM configured a hostname, username and password and need to assert that the connection to a remove server is ok. If the DFM does not change the default behaviour of the source files, all files may be deleted.
 * If the DFM is applying a reference parameter to the source file perseverance, and click "Go to reference parameter" to change the parameter value without applying changes to the source processor first, then the reference to the parameter is not saved, and the DFM may be lead to believe that the processor is using the parameter.
