[jira] [Commented] (TIKA-3166) Actually maven-modularize the packages for 2.0

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TIKA-3166?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17178059#comment-17178059 ]

Tim Allison commented on TIKA-3166:
-----------------------------------

I'm working on {{branch_2x}} now. I'm pushing some incomplete stuff that won't even build. Probably not worthy reviewing yet.

Some diffs from the original plan, which may or may not pan out:

1) more modules -- I'm starting with more parser modules for finer-grained control.

2) test documents -- for now I'm putting test documents with the parsers they are used on...however, there's the big problem of integration tests. I'll probably work my way into Bob's original design soon... :D. The reason I headed this way is that we have gotten to the point where we have too many test files for one directory (IMHO).

3) I'm trying to modularize the zip detector(s) -- so that each lives in the package with their requisite dependencies.

I've only begun...

> Let's get around to maven-modularizing the packages for Tika 2.0 according to [~bobpaulin]'s 2.x branch...and, maybe, maybe, ship Tika 2.0.0-ALPHA some time soonish*?!?
> I'll start working on branch_2x.
