the new java ee 6 sample "ejbtimer-javaee6" uses the new features of java ee 6, that is, includes the ejb components in the web app module, but 3.0-M1 does not support this yet.

EJBs in web applications are supported now. The ejbtimer sample deploys and works fine now.
