session single signon and different users

I ran into a problem with Tomcat 4.1.24 where authenticating with
different users didn't invalidate the session. I have fixed the
problem to my satisfaction locally and was wondering if the greater
tomcat community had use for such a patch.

Alternatively; am I doing something horribly wrong by invalidating the
session when a different user authenticates?
