Re: [REQUEST] Speakers and Volunteers for OpenExpo Europe 2018 Madrid

Hi!

This is just a quick follow-up email.

We told the OpenExpo organizers about the people we have for the
event, but we are still waiting for their confirmation about the exact
talks, format, duration, etc. As soon as we have their feedback we'll
come back to you with all the details so everyone can prepare their
stuff, trips, etc.

I hope we have everything we need to know asap!

I.

Hi Ignasi

Thanks very much for following up with this.

Jim volunteered to do the keynote and I followed up with him again to
check and he confirmed that he was still available and happy to do it.

Thanks

Re: [REQUEST] Speakers and Volunteers for OpenExpo Europe 2018 Madrid

Posted by Ignasi Barrera <na...@apache.org>.
Hi!

I had a phone call with the organizers of the Expo and concreted most
of the details about the spaces, talks, etc. Here are the relevant
bits to the ASF participation in the event:

* We've been offered to do a Keynote in English (30-45 min), in a room
for ~400 people capacity.
* A 30 minutes talk, in Spanish in a room for ~60/70 people.
* A 30 minutes debate (preferably in Spanish but English is OK) in an
open space. This space has no projector, etc. It is more for an open
debate and Q/A.

These three are pre-arranged talks for the ASF, but there will be a
Call for Papers where talk proposals can be submitted by anyone
interested in participating.

As discussed with them, it would be awesome if the Keynote and talk
could be about the ASF itself, the Apache Way, and about how to apply
the Apache Way principles to the corporate world. One of the things we
detected last year is that people were familiar with different Apache
projects but many didn't even know there was a foundation behind them,
so it would be good to explain who we are, where we come from and what
we do.

The incubation and mentoring topics we talked about could be good
candidates for the open debate and Q/A: challenges to face when
starting an OSS project, how to build a community, OSS strategies,
etc.

I'll be happy to do the Spanish talk. We need one volunteer for the
Keynote and at least another for the debate.

Thank you all!

I.

P.S. I'll share further details on the call for papers as soon as I have them.
