problem building batik 1.5 from source

  just for entertainment value, i wanted to build all of the necessary
jar files for batik 1.5 from the src zip, under red hat linux 9, using

  $ sh build.sh dist-tgz

  the build seemed to go fine except at the very end, when i got

  gzip /home/rpjday/SW/apache/batik/xml-batik/batik-src-1.5.tar (No such 
  file or directory)

Total time: 2 minutes 27 seconds

  from what i read, it seems the build.xml file is confused about
which tar.gz file it should be building, or have i just done 
something silly?  thanks.
