Hi,

I want to build 64 bit xerces-c 3.1.1 on AIX PowerPC64 7.1  as a shared library and am expecting the library extension as so. I was getting the library name as libxerces-c.a which is not shared and also it does not contain the version number in the library name.

Later I found that when I changed a certain line in config.guess file from aix[456] to aix[4567], I could build a shared library. But still I cannot get the version number in the library name. It comes as libxerces-c.so.0

I also built xerces-c on Sun Solaris 11, but I did not have the above issues and the library name comes as libxerces-c-3.1.so.

Please suggest how I can get the version number in the library name.
