[jira] Created: (SHINDIG-1448) memory leak from failure to
deregister mbean in GuiceServletContextListener
memory leak from failure to deregister mbean in GuiceServletContextListener
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Key: SHINDIG-1448
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SHINDIG-1448
Project: Shindig
Issue Type: Bug
Components: Java
Affects Versions: 2.0.0, 1.1-BETA5
Environment: all platforms, equinox/osgi container
Reporter: Jonathan Brown
Priority: Minor
The following call registers an mbean under the covers around line 76 of org.apache.shindig.common.servlet.GuiceServletContextListener:
Manager.manage("ShindigGuiceContext", injector)
The mbean should be unregistered in the GuiceServletContextListener.contextDestroyed() implementation or the container can't free the WebAppClassloader.

ugh.. this is something we may want to refer to the guice folks:
http://code.google.com/p/google-guice/source/browse/trunk/extensions/jmx/src/com/google/inject/tools/jmx/Manager.java
Maybe we skip this jmx bindings entirely? It's of low value..

I found a bug filed against Guice which is the same problem:
http://code.google.com/p/google-guice/issues/detail?id=344&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Priority%20Milestone%20Owner%20Summary%20Extension
The reporter was complaining about a InstanceAlreadyExistsException error when redeploying.
I'll add some additional context to that bug report.
