The BeanUtils.populate() method was specifically designed for the use case of
converting HTTP request parameters into form bean properties for Struts. As
such, it has specific logic that converts takes only the first argument from a
String array, when the underlying property is a scalar String.
For general purpose property copying with conversion, the
BeanUtils.copyProperties() method was added to recent nightly builds of
commons-beanutils. If you don't need data conversion, use
PropertyUtils.copyProperties() instead.
