I got the same problem - I could work around it by adding a

try { Thread.sleep(6); } catch (InterruptedException ie) {}

after the line that reads

doRemoteStart(el.trim());

in org/apache/jmeter/gui/action/RemoteStart.java

If that exception still shows, try a number greater than 6ms.
