[jira] [Commented] (TEZ-3706) add option to skip Tez UI build

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TEZ-3706?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17126967#comment-17126967 ]

László Bodor commented on TEZ-3706:
-----------------------------------

[~jeagles]: recently I found this quite relevant in many cases. All of them could have been solved by -pl '!tez-ui', but I would prefer a more formal solution. E.g.:
- in recent internal releases (CLDR), tez-ui is not supported at all, so that could be one case for instance
- in case of a tool I used recently (built tez on a remote server) I bumped into npm issues which I really didn't want to solve just for that particular tez build (and that wasn't the first occasion)

I agree, all of these cases can be solved by -pl '!tez-ui', but a dedicated profile would look better in my opinion, let's say: *-Pnoui* (not to mention a case when I was working with some bash stuff, where quotes caused a minor headache for me once...)

> The UI build takes forever downloading some files and messing around. It should be possible to skip it.
