open office 4.1.3 language pack removed by Norton

Hi,

This is the first time I contact Open Office for Support.

I am running Window 7 and Norton Internet Security. Norton remove the
language pack file because it is considered unsafe under "WS.Reputation.1".

How can I tell whether the file is being "over-protected" by Norton, or
if it is infected?

Your advise is appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards,Cindy

Cindy;

Your question was how to tell if the file was being overprotected or was
infected. The method suggested by Rory will verify that the file file
was unchanged since it was signed during the release process. If the
checksum's match then it is unlikely that the file is infected.

Regards
Keith

I can't speak for Norton which I have not had on a computer in thirty years, but if the file you download is accessible the described method proves it is or isn't as it left the code factory. If it is as it left the code factory you may reasonably assume it is virus free and override Norton. It is my experience that files downloaded from the main OpenOffice source /www.openoffice.org/download (as redirected) are virus free, but the decision to install or not must ultimately be yours.

Hi, Rory,

Thank you for your suggestions, but I do not see how the checksum for extension can prevent Norton to remove the language pack download for Open Office 4.1.3 as I don't even have a chance to see the file.

Please enlighten.
