Sample RSS feeds in 1.3a1 don't work for me

Hello,

I recently downloaded and installed jetspeed 1.3a1 and tomcat 3.2.3 on my NT machine. Basically they seem to be working, and I'm gradually getting up to speed on the fundamentals. But I've run into something that I can't get to work, and I'm hoping someone can explain to me.

When I go to the customize page (http://localhost:8080/jetspeed/portal/screen/Customize), the Tomcat console window says that it cannot get the Apacheweek, XMLHack, and Mozilla portlets from the PortletFactory. Since these are all listed in the jetspeed-config.jcfg file (which I haven't modified at all), and the URLs point to valid pages that contain (or return) valid XML, I don't see why this doesn't work for me.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,
Most likely their is a firewall between your NT machine and the internet
that is preventing Jetspeed from retrieving the content.

Jetspeed v1.3a2-dev has a lot of added functionality. I suggest you try
it. A current copy can be found at
http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-jetspeed/nightly/
