[ANNOUNCE] Apache Guacamole 1.2.0

The Apache Guacamole community is proud to announce the release of
Apache Guacamole 1.2.0.

Apache Guacamole is a clientless remote desktop gateway which supports
standard protocols like VNC, RDP, and SSH. We call it "clientless"
because no plugins or client software are required; once Guacamole is
installed on a server, all you need to access your desktops is a web
browser.

The 1.2.0 release features support for SAML 2.0, Wake-on-LAN, and a
new interface for easily switching between multiple active
connections. The general behavior of the login interface has also been
improved, as has the flexibility of the TOTP support, which may now be
used even with user accounts that do not yet exist in the database.

A full list of the changes in this release, along with links to
downloads and updated documentation, can be found in the release
notes:

http://guacamole.apache.org/releases/1.2.0/

For more information on Apache Guacamole, please see:

http://guacamole.apache.org/

Thanks!

All, before this goes too far, please:

* If you encounter any issues with 1.2.0, open a new thread on user@. Don't
just use the release announcement as a help megathread. It will be chaos.

* Don't reply-all to multiple lists; pick a single list and start your
(new) thread there. These messages are going to both user@ and dev@, but
should really just go to one.

I'm replying-all myself here so that all instances of this thread are
notified, but for future questions/responses: please start a new thread and
pick just one list for that thread.

Thanks,

- Mike

My upgrade on Ubuntu 20.04 was as simple as downloading the client war, unzipping and building the server source code, stopping Tomcat and replacing the WAR file:

tar -xzf guacamole-server-1.2.0.tar.gz
cd guacamole-server-1.2.0/
./configure --with-init-dir=/etc/init.d
make
make install
ldconfig
update-rc.d guacd defaults

cp guacamole-1.2.0.war /var/lib/tomcat9/webapps/guacamole.war
chown tomcat:tomcat /var/lib/tomcat9/webapps/guacamole.war

service guacd restart
service tomcat9 restart

The Apache Guacamole community is proud to announce the release of Apache Guacamole 1.2.0.

Apache Guacamole is a clientless remote desktop gateway which supports standard protocols like VNC, RDP, and SSH. We call it "clientless"
because no plugins or client software are required; once Guacamole is installed on a server, all you need to access your desktops is a web browser.

The 1.2.0 release features support for SAML 2.0, Wake-on-LAN, and a new interface for easily switching between multiple active connections. The general behavior of the login interface has also been improved, as has the flexibility of the TOTP support, which may now be used even with user accounts that do not yet exist in the database.

A full list of the changes in this release, along with links to downloads and updated documentation, can be found in the release
notes:

Posted by Joachim Lindenberg <jo...@lindenberg.one>.
In my case upgrade was very simple:

docker-compose down,

update container references from 1.0 to 1.2, change configuration nla to vmconnect (both due to https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GUACAMOLE-952),

docker-compose up -d --build.

Thanks a lot to the team!

Subject: [ANNOUNCE] Apache Guacamole 1.2.0

That depends on how you've installed 1.1. If you've installed via Docker,
you'd pull the latest versions of the relevant containers and restart. If
you've installed in a more traditional fashion, you'd just follow the
install process and replace the old components with the newer ones. If you
run into issues and have specific questions, feel free to post back here.

Hi,

What would be the best practice to upgrade from v1. 1.1 to 1.2?

Thanks Peter
