url-mapping

Hi,

Can my webapp use the Root URL mapping?

like this:
 <servlet-mapping>
        <servlet-name>HelloWorldExample</servlet-name>
        <url-pattern>/</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
   
I tried, but it does not work. It only works only if
it is a ROOT webapps.
