Please change Open JPA to OpenJPA

Can we elide the hyphen out of all of these? It seems like bad
form. This will be unbelievably frustrating when OpenEJB enters
incubation (very soon now). Since OpenEJB has been around for ever
and this project doesn't officially exist yet, how about we take the
opportunity to align the two names avoiding the confusion on
everone's part and make "Open JPA" into "OpenJPA" no space.

I can just see every article about EJB3 at Apache get one of the two
names, mailing list, or websites wrong.

You know, I was going to manufacture some strange looking Null Pointer

Well, you've gotta take into account the several years worth of
waiting for the JVM to start up every time you want to run 'svn
status', so it'd still work out even in the end ;-)

What would Mr. SVN say if he was written in java?

Also, http://incubator.apache.org/projects/open-jpa contains a website
reference that reads http://incubator.apache.org/open-jpa/, but points
to http://incubator.apache.org/projects/open-jpa.html/.

Well, if you have a working copy that was checked out from:

https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/open-jpa/trunk

You should be able to cd into that working copy and run

$ svn switch https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/openjpa/trunk

And it'll switch your working copy to that new url.

Oh, this gives me a chance to tease Garrett :

Riddle :

How does Mr. SVN say "That's an incorrect or invalid URL specified the
move command"?

Answer :

svn: PROPFIND request failed on '/'
svn: PROPFIND of '/': 405 Method Not Allowed (https://svn.apache.org)

Hi Garrett,

I tried to switch my svn workspace but it didn't work.

Instead of me showing my ignorance, could you please tell me which
directory I should be in and what svn command to execute to perform
the switch?

Thanks,

Re: Please change Open JPA to OpenJPA

Posted by Dain Sundstrom <da...@iq80.com>.
Just to be clear, the only the only items with hyphenated names
remaining are the svn location and the mailing lists. Both of these
will have to be changed when the project graduates anyway, so they
can be fixed later. Right?

IMO I think that it is better to make the change before the project
gets going, but if everyone wants to wait, I can too.

The names with hypens will be changed once the project graduates from
the incubator, so I don't see it as an issue.

I don't understand the problem. The project is "OpenJPA". The wiki is
"OpenJPA". The project proposal, which everyone agreed to, had
open-jpa-dev in it, so it was created that way. Do you all think that
it's a killer problem to have that hypen in the list name when
everything else is "OpenJPA"?
