[users@httpd] Apache 1.3 on Red Hat Linux 8.0
Hi,
I am trying to install an application on Red Hat Linux
8.0 Operating System. The application package installs
an Apache Web Server v 1.3 along with it in the due
process as the application needs a Web Server. Will
this create any problem on Red Hat 8.0 as I checked
the Red Hat Docs and it says that starting Red Hat 8.0
, they are shipping Apache 2.0 instead of Apache
1.3(as in earlier releases of Red Hat 7.2,7.3 etc) ?
Simply put, Will Apache 1.3 work on Red Hat 8.0 ? Does
any applications using Apache 1.3 will need to
upgraded to Aapche 2.0 if they have to be installed on
Red Hat 8.0?
Appreciate the help,
Thanks,
Sarat

Your system is missing the Berkley DB libraries package. You can
get this from SleepyCat (www.sleepycat.com) if it is not included with
your RedHat distribution.

Jeff,
But it is already installed.I checked the install.log
file in the "root" directory of the Red Hat 8.0 box
and I see these 2 files
installed::"glibc-common-2.2.93-5" and
"glibc-2.2.93-5"

Thanks Jonathan for a prompt reply.
After that, I installed an Apache Web Server 1.3.20 on
my Red Hat 8.0 box, changed the config file so that
server will run on Port 3333 and then into bin
directory and did a "./apachectl start".It gave me
this error
"/usr/local/apache/bin/httpd: error while loading
shared libraries: libdb.so.3: c
annot open shared object file: No such file or
directory
./apachectl start: httpd could not be started"
Any suggesstions!!!
Thanks,
Sarat
