Trouble building subversion 1.3.0 RPM's for RHEL3 on x86_64

I'm having some difficulty getting 1.3.0 set up for RHEL3 on an x86_64 box.
I'd prefer to use RHEL4, but have an approval process in front of me to do
that. I've tested under CentOS 4.2 on i386 and am very happy with it.

So in the meantime, I'm working from David Sommers very nice SRPM's for
this, and I'm a bit confused. To build the subversion RPM for x86_64, I see
that I need the swig package: do I need the updated apr and httpd that David
provides to replace my system versions to get the expected features I need?
And I assume that I don't actually need the db42 at all, since David's RPM's
are using FSFS?

I'm also running into some interesting compilation bugs with the subversion
SRPM not finding the python2.2 library under x86_64: I'm not sure if any
changes were needed for that under i386, or whether perhaps the python is
better integrated in that platform. (The choice of /usr/lib and /usr/lib64
for libraries can be an..... adventure for other package builders, I admit!)
