Connection Tomcat 4 Apache 2 fails without errormessage

Hello,

I set up a linux system with tomcat 4.0.4 and apache 2.0.40 - connector 
is mod_jk  
 (all built from downloaded sources from www.apache.org)
j2sdk version is 1.4.0 (from a binary distribution)
Kernel version is 2.4.0-4GB (from a SuSE-Distributon 7.3)

starting tomcat allows me to make connections by 
http://luna.draft.de:8080/examples and
by https://luna.draft.de:8443/examples

starting apache allows me to make connections by 
http://luna.draft.de/tomcat and https://....

If I try http://luna.draft.de/examples i get error 404 (not found).

Perhaps someone can have a look onto my configuration and/or logfiles to 
tell me
what is wrong. You find those files on URL http://luna.draft.de/tomcat/
