Fwd: Your stand proposal for FOSDEM 2016 has been rejected
Hello,
good news wrapped as bad news:
There is no Apache OpenOffice stand at FOSDEM 2016, because there is a
common Apache booth (see below). Our wishes will become true. Good news!
Mechtilde and I will be there with some materials presenting Apache
OpenOffice.
We look forward to see you at FOSDEM 2016.
Kind regards
Michael

Hi Michael,
The FOSDEM stands team is sorry to have to inform you that your request
for a stand for 'Apache OpenOffice' has been rejected.
Like most years, we received roughly twice as many requests for stands
as we have tables available. We have aimed to grant as many requests as
feasible and to increase the diversity of the accepted stands. Because
of this, we have unfortunately had to reject some projects that have
been present in previous years years.
However, we did accept the proposal from the 'Apache Software Foundation'
and grant them two tables. It might be possible to present your project
via their stand in some way. However, it will be up to them to decide if
and how they would like to do this. The primary contact for this
proposal is Daniel Gruno <hu...@apache.org>. We have suggested to
him that he may contact you.
Kind regards,
Johan van Selst

For FOSDEM, existing materials should be perfect.
See <http://apache.org/foundation/press/kit/> announced today.
There is an already-created "Powered by Apache OpenOffice" symbol that is only provided as a PSD (native Photoshop file format) although OpenOffice Draw will open it. It is pb-openoffice.psd at <http://apache.org/foundation/press/kit/poweredBy/>. We definitely need something better than that. It is not urgent.
I think the only impact on Apache OpenOffice materials are where the feather is used. The gull-wing symbol and the AOO logos and buttons are not impacted.
My understanding is that changes will be introduced over the coming months of 2016. There is no expectation that everything will change overnight.

So, FOSDEM is coming next weekend and there is a page at
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/COMDEV/FOSDEM+2016
allocating "office hours" for the booth. We will always have space
available, but people can state that they will surely be present in a
certain time slot.
Are the proposed slots OK? If yes, we can put your names there (page is
protected, but I have edit rights if needed). The materials we have
available look good.

Stay tuned for a lot of new Apache materials (which explains why it is
best to wait after FOSDEM to reprint Apache OpenOffice
pins/stickers/everything).
Regards,
Andrea.

We have some english and french flyers, but in black and white only. So
dutch flyers are needed (and italian of course ;-) ).
We have also german flyers (black and white and colour).
We have pins and stickers (with sea gulls).
We could need some more sticker postcards.
I hope, the Apache people will bring some feathers.

Michael

Perfect, so we go for the common big booth as we hoped! Do we need any
OpenOffice-specific materials?
Regards,
Andrea.
