Will your project feature at ApacheCon North America 2010? (fwd)

Did everyone spot this on the incubator general@ list ?

I think Chemistry could probably produce a couple of interesting and well
attended talks. They could fit within a content track (which in Oakland
had things around jcr, sling, couchdb, poi etc). They could fit within an
Incubator "new technologies" track. Or they could maybe fit within a
webservices track. Plenty of possibilities!

Is anyone interested in putting together a proposal to speak? Attending
and speaking at ApacheCon is a great experience both for the speaker and
for the project :)

Nick

Dear PMC,

ApacheCon 2010 North America is just around the corner, and it's time
to roll out a program for this event! We'll be at the Westin Peachtree
Plaza in Atlanta, GA, from 1st-5th November. Will you be there?

If you'd like your project to be featured in the main conference
tracks, please discuss it with your project community. A schedule is
not needed at this time, but you have a coherent vision for a one day
(6 sessions) program. We are particularly interested in programs that
fit current themes, from Servers to Cloud Computing, from Search to
NoSQL, as well as Innovation and Emerging Technologies.

You'll also need to identify a track program organizer, who will be
responsible for liaising with the planners, as well as collecting the
session descriptions, speaker bios, and other programming information.
Your track organizer should email planners-2010-na@apachecon.com with
your project's intent to participate, before Sunday, March 21st.

Projects will be notified by the end of March as to whether their
proposal has been accepted, and full programming should be completed
by April 16th.

Note that the planning committee will review the proposed tracks, and
may offer feedback or specify necessary changes to ensure the success
of the event.

All accepted speakers (not co-presenters) qualify for general
conference admission and a minimum of two nights lodging at the
conference hotel. Additional hotel nights and travel assistance are
possible, depending on the number of presentations given and type of
assistance needed.

If you think main track programming isn't for you, don't worry! You
should expect to hear from us shortly about opportunities to present
Training Sessions, as well as evening Meetups and other events.

Looking forward to seeing you in Atlanta!

Your ApacheCon 2010 NA Planning Team

Excellent news!

I believe the March 21st deadline is for getting day long tracks (themes)
approved - you don't have to work out the exact session plan for a track
just yet.

I'm putting together a proposal for a content track, so I've added
Chemistry as a possible contributor to that. It would probably also be
worth contacting the Web Services PMC to let them know you might be
interested in contributing a talk to their track if they run one (they
usually do). I'd suggest you drop a quick email to private@ws.apache.org
to let them know that you might be interested, so they can include it in
their proposal if they feel it's a good fit too.

Hi Nick,

Yes I saw this, and speaking for myself I'm quite interested in
Chemistry being represented at the conference.

I've never been to an ApacheCon (although I've done a JavaOne talk
before) so I'm not sure what kind of track would be best. As you say
the Content track seems a given, and the WebServices is a perfect fit
as well. What would be the next steps? March 21st is a bit short to
hash out the details of the sessions!

And it would be good if we could have several speakers and/or several talks...

Florent
