Maven scm clearcase help

Hi, 

I am new to maven scm plugin. I want to use maven 1.0.2 to first update 
the code from clearcase and compile only if some source code has changed 
other wise the script just stops there and sends notification to every one 
saying that there are no files changed for build. 

Can you please provide me sample code or some direction for this?
