[jira] [Commented] (DMAP-172) Build .NET clients with Visual Studio Code

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DMAP-172?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14698243#comment-14698243 ]

Werner Keil commented on DMAP-172:
----------------------------------

While it's small and nice to edit code in various languages, VS Code is not able to "build" / compile C# or VB.net code by itself. Looks like Visual Studio Community Edition will be necessary after all. However, I'd say DeviceMap applies more than one of these categories ;-)
>Visual Studio Community is free for individual developers, open source projects, academic research, education, and small professional teams.

So going to give VS 2015 CE a try for proper releases of the .NET clients.

> Building .NET clients with Visual Studio Code (https://code.visualstudio.com/) makes them available to Windows, Linux and MacOS. Not just Windows. Plus it's free and has a smaller footprint than traditional VS.
> This should lower the barrier to build and use the .NET clients compared to Java or JavaScript.
