Flex 4.10 - Queries
Hi Team - congratulations on releasing 4.10. We are in the process of
testing out our products with the 4.10 release and have a few questions:
1) On importing the SDK into Flash Builder (BTW - excellent work on the
Installer), it says the minimum required version is 11.8. Is this true? I
remember reading somewhere that 4.10 actually offers better backwards
compatibility for older FP versions. Any idea how to configure 4.10 to work
with older FP versions?
2) This is more of a request/question. this probably got changed by Adobe
prior to the Apache transition, but why was GridColumnHeaderGroupLayout
marked as ExcludeClass? This makes it monumentally harder to
extend/override functionality.
Thanks!
Sal

Actually you need to do a little more than that, there are 3 different config files you may need to edit (the other two being air-config.xml and airmobile-config.xml) and you'll need to get the correct playerglobal.swc.
For instructions see "Adobe Flash Player Version Support" in the README file.
https://github.com/apache/flex-sdk/blob/develop/README
There are command line script in the ide directory that help you set the Flash Player and AIR version as needed.

It's not a bug, Flash Builder has no concept of minimum version just the version you want to use.
Thanks,
Justin

Hi,
change the following node value to what ever version you want. FB 4.7 will
refer this value only (*[SDK]*/frameworks/flex-config.xml).
<!-- Specifies the minimum player version that will run the compiled SWF.
-->
<target-player>11.0</target-player>
There is a bug(or misunderstanding ) in the installer that, it will set the
<target-player> value to which version of flash player u choose while
download.

There is an option in the installer to set this.

The minimum is whatever you select. The 4.10.0 SDK will work with Flash Player 10.2 and up.
> Any idea how to configure 4.10 to work with older FP versions?
Using the installer you just select an earlier version of Flash Player.
If you look in the ide directory there are scripts to change both the AIR and FP version.

Raise a JIRA and someone will take a look to see if it can be changed.
