Dynamically parsed templates.

Hi, 
  I would like to be able to have a method like this in VelocityEngine
or the Velocity singleton class:

public Template parse(String text) throws ...

  I have searched the mailing-list archives and found various ways of
achieving the same result (dated serveral years ago) but would prefer a
cleaner way of do this. 
  What is the current way of doing this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
