Action instance variables

I thought it would be ok to cache a few objects as instance variables in
one of my Action classes, but it doesn't seem to be working.

My Action class implements PlugIn so I can do some initialization of a
property-based list and of a singleton business object.

When I try to access those variables from the execute() method, they're
null.  If, however, I place the objects in the servlet context from the
init() method and retrieve it from there in the execute() method, they
have the correct values.

Is this expected?  Is there a different instance of my Action created by
the PlugIn loading process than is created by the Action calling process?
