List of supporters on our website?
Hi all,
just had an idea.
There is quite a number of companies that support us, even if they are not actively communicating here or doing any coding. Some are providing Software, others are supporting the most vital part: Information. I would like to add a page at a rather prominent location of our web-presence, where companies publically supporting us can be listed with their company logo and how they are helping us.
On the one side I’m hoping this will help us convince others to participate: Sort of like “These companies are supporting us, so you would be in good company”.
What do you think?
Chris

+1
in case I've managed to make myself misunderstood (happens a lot ;-):
I wasn't suggesting Chris was planning to do anything out of the
ordinary. Just wanted to point out there are a few things we need to
keep in mind.

Hi,
Either way the PPMC can review, provide feedback on, modify etc etc before it goes live. "Must not be advertisements” is the main thing.
Thanks,
Justin

Hi,
Care certainally needs to be taken but I think Chris is suggesting more of a product support page. [1]
Thanks,
Justin

In the end your page will look like a thanks page as you mention the
companies that helped developing the product :-)

Hi Stefan,
wasn't really planning on doing a "thanks" page, but more a "we think this is a good idea and support it" sort of thing.

I'm sure you are aware of
http://www.apache.org/foundation/marks/linking#projectthanks so there
are certain expectations about the content of the thanks page.
You (= the folks who actually write code as opposed to me who watches
from the sidelines) know best which contributions really helped and
whether it warrants adding a thanks page. I agree it might encourage
other companies who are active in this area to help out with specs and
clarifications.
