The data cache maintains a metric with the total size used by the data cache (as calculated by the cache). There are two improvements that would be useful:
 # Periodically get the OS disk usage for the data cache files
 # Get cache usage per-partition rather than on the whole

The OS metrics help us verify that the cache is doing what we expect, and if something goes wrong, it can help us debug and monitor it over time.
