Ok I figured it out. Looks like the LDIF blows up because there is no
credential info. BTW the second start does not blow a stack trace
because the database has already been created. If you try blowing away
the database the exception will appear everytime. This exception only
occurs when the principal is not provided.
Seems like I need to set the anonymous user principal when anon bind is
in effect. That should get rid of this problem. I'll give you a heads
up when this is done.

Yeah this is very odd - trying to get to the bottom of this. I think I
may have broken something in the authorization side with these fixes and
its preventing additions of the LDIF. Will get back to you.

That seems to have done it. Strange error complaining about system ldif file
or something, but stopped, restarted again and all was quiet - could even log
on as admin. Will test more later.
Cheers.

BTW I see the stack trace you are referring to. I think I might have

Let's just nip this in the bud.

Tried that. Starts up nicer (no exceptions). However, I still can't connect.

I did some searches for db related stuff and wasn't exactly sure what to
delete.
Should I delete anything ending in 'lg' or 'db' in the eve directory?

Dang ok - one last thingy. Try without the eve.properties just alone.
Oh and make sure you blow away any old Eve databases in working
directories too.

Doesn't work.
Here'a my eve/eve.properties:
java.naming.factory.initial=org.apache.eve.jndi.EveContextFactory
java.naming.security.authentication=simple
java.naming.security.principal=uid=admin,ou=system
java.naming.security.credentials=secret
eve.wkdir=eve
eve.enable.anonymous=true
eve.net.ldap.port=10389
eve.net.ldaps.port=10636
I also tried commenting out credentials and that didn't work either.
I also tried commenting out principal and credentials and that didn't work
either.
Cheers.
