Re: WELCOME to user@poi.apache.org

Hi all,

I'm totally new to POI, bear with me if my question sounds silly...

I was looking at POI 3.8 beta 3 doc,
Particularly the Mission Statement section, which has the following text,
"Work is progressing for Word documents (HWPF+XWPF) and PowerPoint presentations
(HSLF+XSLF)."
What exactly does it mean? Does it mean POI 3.8 is now able to extract
PowerPoint 2000 and newer version?

Thanks in advance.

Text extraction for .ppt files has been in for ages, and for .pptx since 3.5.
Not sure if that's what you mean by "able to extract" though?
