[jira] [Commented] (IMPALA-3819) Block locality metadata may be stale message is misleading

bharath v commented on IMPALA-3819:
-----------------------------------

We had some user reports that {{"INVALIDATE METADATA `sometable`}} is misleading too and may not help. Even after running it, the queries still produce the warning. We need to try and reproduce this (or) consider rephrasing it in a more meaningful way (or) remove it entirely.

> The Block locality stale warning message. ie.:
> WARNINGS: Read 348.13 MB of data across network that was expected to be local. Block locality metadata for table 'sometable' may be stale. Consider running "INVALIDATE METADATA `sometable`".
> Is misleading, it infers a data correctness issue where none exists. It should state that this issue carries only a performance impact and not a correctness one.
