Tomcat newbie...need help with OWSKiller 3.0.4 install, configuration with Tomcat
Any OWSKiller users out there? Any help would be appreciated.
I'm running Tomcat 3.1, Apache 1.3.12, OAS 4.0.8.1 (Oracle's Application
Server) and Oracle 8.1.6.1 DB on Linux 2.2.13 (RedHat 6.1).
The examples work fine, and I have configured Tomcat to server the Oracle
demo jsp application which connects to database and delivers the "dynamic"
pages (works great). Now what I would to do is "nuke" the need for OAS to
server my existing plsql pages. I have installed OWSKiller 3.0.4 which
includes documentation for running under Apache JServ. (samples of the
zone.properties, and OWSKiller.properties are in the docs).
How should I proceed to configure Tomcat with the config for the JServ
files.
http://owskiller.penguin.cz/Readme.txt
the following is from the above readme
6. Edit servlet.properties (servletrunner) or zone.properties (Apache
Jserv). See Readme-JavaWebServer to
use with Sun Java Web Server 2.0.
7. Configure your servlet engine and replace default "/servlets" or
"/servlet"
path with "/servlet/plsql". Your application should remain unchanged -
you
don't need to edit code of your packages. Add "plsql" to list of
Connection.alias
10.Run your web server with servlet engine and test it.

I am using a similar configuration. After a week of problems getting the beta of IBM jdk 1.3 to work properly with Apache and Tomcat 3.1, noticed a beta of Sun jdk 1.3 available for Linux.
After installing the Sun beta, everything started working smoothly. Get it at http://developer.javasoft.com
Good luck!

Try with one of the ibm jdk's on redhat. jdk 1.1.8 has been working well for me. (ibm) Alphaworks just released jdk 1.3 pre-release and should have a final by June 30. I have had trouble with the Sun jdk's. My machine is multiprocessor, and they do not want to support that under linux. Bud

I'm using the PRE-RELEASE Sun JDK 1.2.2 (I know, I like living on the
"bleeding edge"), seems to work fine both standalone and with Apache 1.3.12

Hi!
You seem to be the only other person I have seen on the list who is using
Tomcat3.1 on RHLinux.
I am having problem installing Tomcat w/ Apache and SunJDK 1.2. Tomcat is
installed according to the docs, and I have copied the generated
Tomcat-apache.conf file to the Apache conf directory and including it
there.
Tomcat startsup ok and even serves the first JSP/servlet page ok. But
immediately afterwards it crashes with a "Interrupted System
Call" exception. I tried using different ports for ajvpconnector, but same
problem occured. I tried the Tomcat standalone and it still kept on
crashing. Some other folks whom i have contacted personally on a local
Linux Users list have also reported problems installing.
Is this a Tomcat bug in Linux or a JVM problem? I haven't tried the IBM
JDK, but is it worth the try?
TIA
regards,
Sandip
