This is still unresolved, right?  We ran into this problem this week, we tried
to upgrade our Apache installation that proxies to our app servers and it
caused all our desktop software out there "in the world" to stop being able to
connect correctly. Thanks to Stack Overflow we found the problem and
implemented the header-stripping fix but wanted to register our interest in
this getting fixed.
