i think that..

the buildconf script should do a requirments check and 
report them first, but not in a top-down manner.

For example..
I am running FreeBSD 4.3 STABLE

I did not have libtool, and autoconf:

The following were the errors:

Apache needs autoconf for building from CVS.

So.. i downloaded autoconf.
i tried to run the script again,
and then it said..

Apache needs to libtool for building from CVS.

I hope everyone takes into consideration that, its better 
if we reported all requirments error together and in a top 
down manner,

I will submit a patch to it in two hours time,

I am going downstairs to see Stargate SG-1,
