[jira] [Closed] (INFRA-8951) Very slow login to people; very slow when converting ids to names

Tony Stevenson closed INFRA-8951.
---------------------------------
    Resolution: Won't Fix
Assignee: Tony Stevenson (was: Chris Lambertus)

Closing as wont fix, as in this case we wont be fixing the specific use case. As Chris says we will however sort out the underlying LDAP issues as soon as we can.

Please bear with it and us.

> Logins to people have become very slow recently.
> Also I've noticed that running "ls -l" takes much longer than "ls -ln".
> The conversion of gid/uid to names seems to be the culprit here as "ps -u" is also very slow.
> I assume this is due to the use of LDAP.
> Is there anything that can be done to speed this up?
> Perhaps some kind of caching mechanism for the gid/uid parts of LDAP.
> These don't tend to change once created, but additions obviously do occur.
