renegade repository directories

Just a question:  why does a new repository directory pop up in strange
places after i delete the cached files from it?? :-)

they've shown up under webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/classes, tomcat/lib,
tomcat/classes/org/apache/cocoon/processor/xsp/library/java, and sundry
other places (there's one showed up in my home directory just today
:-)...but the only thing i can link it to is when i delete the files out of
there, then it gets huffy and says "fine, i'll just go somewhere else!" :-)

this is no biggie, just wondering why it seems to pick a different spot to
cache it's stuff each time i run the server ;-)
