no Cocoon.xml in browser

error.log of apache gives a exit signal Segmentation fault (11).
what does this mean?
i use suse 7.0-2.2.18, ibm jdk 1.3, mod jserv 1.1.2 (recompiled and as a
dyn module) and cocoon 1.8.2. i use apache 1.3.14.
the localhost/jserv/ works fine. and i get information about the virtual
maschine in servlet engine status, that tells me the classpath of cocoon's
*.jar in usr/lib/cocoon.
but when i try to get the testpage Cocoon.xml the error.log of apache gives
a notice like "...exit signal Segmentation fault (11)".
what does this mean?
